$100 for a Day: $479 Best, $94.68 Median

2026-09-11 · 6 min read · By Leo Park · BigPump Blog
TL;DR
  • $1,200 became $1,593.43 (+32.8%) but the median is $94.68 with 6 up and 6 down; worst is SIH at $3.39
  • Strip out JUGGERNAUT and the remaining $1,100 becomes $1,114.15 — up 1.3%
  • The "age >= 500h plus liquidity >= $200k" filter lifts the worst case from $3.39 to $85.79 and the median to $138.78

Buy $100 of each of the 12 tokens on Robinhood Chain's hot list 24 hours ago — $1,200 total — and you'd now hold $1,593.43, up 32.8%. Sounds good until you check the median: $94.68. The typical position lost money, and the basket's entire return comes from one token. Backward-looking, not a forecast. Snapshot 2026-09-11 00:09 UTC.

The row that matters isn't the first one

JUGGERNAUT's $479.29 is what turns this basket from flat into a win. Remove it and the remaining 11 positions turn $1,100 into $1,114.15 — up 1.3%. Nothing.

That's the truth about memecoin return distribution: it isn't spread evenly, one token carries everything. And you could not have known yesterday that it would be JUGGERNAUT. Its price 24 hours ago was $0.0025, at which point it was a 74-day-old pool with a market cap in the low millions that hadn't done anything notable in weeks.

The $94.68 median is the honest expected value of "picking one at random." Do that yesterday and you had a 6-in-12 chance of losing money, with the worst case leaving you $3.39.

Which filters actually help

We run the same filters daily to see which ones move the median. Today:

$100 recap after applying each filter (2026-09-11)
FilterPassesMedianMeanWorst
No filter (all 12)12$94.68$132.79$3.39

Turnover ≤ 20x9$103.57$116.57$36.74
Age ≥ 500 hours6 (JUGGERNAUT/CASHCAT/WALLET/PONS/FRONG/CHUMP)$138.78$202.00$85.79
Liquidity ≥ $200k and age ≥ 500h6 (same)$138.78$202.00$85.79

Three conclusions:

  1. "Old pool" is today's strongest filter. The six tokens aged ≥500 hours (JUGGERNAUT 1,767h, CASHCAT 1,709h, WALLET 1,511h, PONS 1,318h, FRONG 1,012h, CHUMP 1,006h) give a median of $138.78, a mean of $202.00, and a worst case of only $85.79. In other words, if you only bought old pools, your maximum loss today was 14.2%. Those same six also all clear the $200k liquidity line — old and deep overlap completely today.
  2. A filter's real value is cutting the tail, not raising the ceiling. Worst case improves from $3.39 to $85.79 — a 25x improvement. The median only moves from $94.68 to $138.78. Surviving matters more than maximising.
  3. Today's best performer happened to pass every filter — unusual. On previous days the biggest gainer typically came from a 0–50 hour-old pool. The structural reason today: the move was caused by an external event (Robinhood adding asset pages), and external events only land on tokens that already have a name.

The tail: how the losses actually happened

SIH: $100 → $3.39

-96.61%. A 25-hour-old token with main-pool liquidity of $5,091, a $3,627 market cap, and $858,970 of 24h volume — turnover 168.7x, or 236.8x its entire market cap. 3,416 distinct addresses bought it in 24h and only 170 holders remain (OpenSea). Last hour: $0 of volume.

Every filter above removes it: liquidity far under $20k, turnover 168.7x, age 25 hours. → full breakdown

ASHIBA: $100 → $36.74

-63.26%. This was 09-09's only golden dog at +613%. Three-day path: +613% → -30.95% → -63.26%, which is -74.6% from the 09-09 snapshot. 24h volume fell from $1,094,414 to $190,501 (-82.6%) — nobody is trading it now.

PONIE: $100 → $61.61

-38.39%. Yesterday's golden dog at +175.42%. The glaring part: volume rose 77.8% ($929,252 → $1,652,443) while price fell 38.39% and liquidity fell 13.7%. Turnover 43.6x, with 3,621 unique buyers against 3,622 unique sellers. Textbook distribution.

What yesterday's golden-dog chase returned

If you bought $100 of each of 09-10's three golden dogs off the gainers board ($300):

The two we can measure turned $200 into $136.70 (-31.7%). Fifth consecutive day with the same conclusion: buying a golden dog on the day it appears has a negative next-day expected value. Full five-day tracking: here.

And the coldest comparison: yesterday's 10 zero-hour launches

Of the 10 tokens that launched on 09-10, zero are up 24 hours later. Combined liquidity $56,857 → $48,215 (-15.2%). The best is RHC at -6.50% (with $183 of 24h volume); the worst is ORBIT at -68.23%, which was +321.59% yesterday. Buy $100 of each ($1,000) and you'd have $847.31, median $94.91.

FAQ

Can I use this as a forecast?

No. It's computed from 24h changes that already happened, with no slippage, no fees, no routing problems, and an assumption that you filled exactly at the snapshot moment. All four of those eat into real returns — especially slippage: PONIE's main pool holds only $37,908, so a $100 order is fine and a $5,000 order is not.

Does a $94.68 median mean memecoin trading doesn't pay?

It means buying at random doesn't pay. With filters (old pool plus deep liquidity) the median is $138.78 and the worst case is $85.79; unfiltered the median is $94.68 and the worst case is $3.39. The difference isn't skill at picking winners — it's discipline at avoiding the tail.

Why aren't fees and slippage included?

Because that requires assuming a position size and routing path. But for scale: today's main-pool fees range from FRONG's 0.25% to JUGGERNAUT's 1%. If you're routed into a high-fee pool instead (WALLET has a 3.688% pool; KERMIT has seven at 79%–81%) the cost changes entirely. Full explainer: why the pool you trade decides your P&L.

What about top-10 concentration today?

The upstream holder endpoint returned 403 for a second day — no public data. Turnover and liquidity above come from pool data and are unaffected.

What does it cost to be on the launching side?

BigPump on Robinhood Chain (chainId 4663): launch in one click, no code and no initial liquidity from you. The curve phase charges a 1% pool fee; cumulative real ETH of 4 ETH triggers automatic graduation (a one-time 5% of pooled ETH is taken, a Uniswap V2 pool is created, and the LP is burned to the dead address); after graduation the platform takes a further 1% per DEX trade on top of the creator tax you choose (1/3/5/10%, split four ways across treasury / burn / dividends / liquidity). Mechanics: BigPump docs.
